The original company, John Keevil and Co established in 1950, was a general and life insurance brokerage in Purley, Surrey, concentrating on personal and household insurance and, in the days when negotiating mortgages was highly specialised, helped intending home owners.

The business grew steadily and early in 1989 KMG acquired the firm of Ward Gibson Williams, life and general insurance consultants based in Guildford. Also acquired were two specialist brokerages - Amateur Radio Insurances Limited and Sporting Insurance Services. A further merger in 1991 brought Stroud and Company and R.A. May and Company, two long established general insurance brokerages, into the Group.

In 1991, too, KMG moved to Shepheards Hurst in rural Surrey. With the advantages of the electronic age, communication with clients was maintained and improved and, for many clients, the advantage of the out of town location enhanced our relationship.

In 1996 we sold the insurance business to focus on the investment and financial planning needs of our private and corporate clients.

Many who were clients of the original KMG company in 1950 remain our clients to this day. Some initially only sought straightforward mortgage or insurance advice but our relationship grew and now we are entrusted with complex investment and financial matters relating to personal and corporate affairs.

Over the years our client base has developed. Sons and daughters have become clients, and we have looked after some of our corporate clients for over 40 years.

This underlines the importance of continuity and trust between our clients and KMG. It emphasised, too, the steady growth of KMG over more than half a century.

Times have changed since the early days - and KMG is changing too. The requirements of private and corporate clients have become more sophisticated, presenting new challenges, which we are pleased to meet.

In 2000 we took the view that a new millennium required a new look, and became KMG Financial.

In 2001 we achieved success through Investors in People and relocated our current premises in Reigate which offer contemporary office facilities for our personnel and our clients.

Today we are located in the Surrey countryside in a beautifully converted barn in the village of Smallfield.

Within a growing company, such challenges are met with enthusiasm, and as a team we look forward to serving you.
